Anyone searching for pic hosting READ THIS

markgaj Feb 07, 2003 05:43 PM

With printroom being down I am seeing a lot of people asking about a good photohosting site. This happens over and over again. These independant pic hosting sites SUCK!!!!

Here is a suggestion reposted from a post I made below...

Most ISPs give you a certain amount of webspace for you to create a website on, upload pictures to etc. They usually do not advertise this though. Anyone who is looking for photohosting should contact your ISP and see if they provide such a service.

For example, my ISP allows me to have up to 7 accounts. Each account will have its own email and 7Mb of webspace. So combining all 7 accounts I have a total of 70Mb worth of webspace. You can store a lot of pictures in 70Mb of webspace! Plus, I don't have to worry about size limits, or annoying banners on top of my pics. I BET that most people are already paying for this service and don't even know it! Why bother with crappy printroom/webshots etc. when you are likely already paying for a service that is much better and probably more stable!?!

Hope this helps someone,

My ISP here at home (roadrunner cable) only gives 5 mb! I don't know each email address gets it's own webspace, but that's still not very much.

Oh well. I'm using tripod.lycos.co.uk for my website, and apparently they allow 3rd party hosting (well, it seems to work for me) - and they give 50 mb.
