My beardie, Princess laid one egg on Sunday. She is 2 years old and has not been with my male since they were 4 months old. I know it is an infertile egg, but should I be worried about her? I felt her belly, can't feel any more eggs, but would she just have one? On Sunday she was going crazy digging around in her cage but that really isn't unusual behavior for her. My husband saw her lay the egg and by the time I got in the room she had climbed up on her basking log and looked peaceful as can be. Any info would really be appreciated. I can take her to a vet if I need to. Thanks so much.

Didn't you say a while ago that Princess was a male? Guess shes not... !

Laying just one egg - fertile or not - is a little unusual, from what i know. Usually there are more eggs... Does Princess have an egglaying box where she feels comfortable to lay? The main reason for eggbinding is that they don't have a good place to lay them. I would check her closely - if she doesn't lay more maybe take her to the vet... Hopefully someone else can help you more - I am not very good at eggbinding...

Yes, thought she was a female when she was really little and named her Princess. Then as she got older we were sure she was a male, but we were so used to calling her Princess that we couldn't change. We always felt bad, figured we were probably confusing the poor thing but in the end she showed us......by laying an EGG!

i had a female that laid eggs for almost two weeks, one egg here, two there.. for a total of almost 2 dozen. there are about 9 good ones. female is fine and healthy, rare but it happens.
