Some of you may recall a post that I put up over a week ago about some Exo-terra glass terrariums which I purchased having a strong silicone smell weeks after airing them out. The smell was extremely noticable after I reduced most of the airflow to keep humidity levels up. This really concerned me and I would not place my chondros in the cage until I could fix the problem for fear of the toxic smell killing my snakes.
Well, the company finally got back to me and as it turn out, some of the cages were packed before the silicone could fully cure causing the silicone smell to persist even after airing out the cages. The company said that the problem can easily be fixed by removing the screen top and background and placing a basking light in the cage for 1 week to bake the silicone fumes away. Ya see - I knew I wasn't crazy (LOL!).----RON
