i had a friend who smoked in the same room with a panther chameleon. Eventually the lizard closed his eyes and never opened them again.
While this is not scientific proof... One of the kids who used to work at a local pet shop had a couple of veileds. They lived quite a while and supposedly died soon after a new room-mate moved in with him. The new room-mate smoked.

...if it affects humans why would it not affect any other living being? Think of their tiny lungs and respiratory system (compared to ours) and see what common sense tells you. Another way to consider it is would they NORMALLY be exposed to this in their natural environment? I think not. I do not mean to berate you especially since you care enough to ask, but their was a guy on a tarantula forum who thought it was cool to blow pot smoke in his T's face to get it stoned! UGH!
I do ecological garden design and my motto is "take your cues from nature." This thought can be applied to most anything we do - including keeping companion animals
So in my opinion - no, this is not a good thing, cigarette or other sources.

If he knew he wouldn't have posted.
Common sense said ask the question and get a response
which he did.
What if you get a air cleaning machine? I to was thinking about getting a chameleon, but I smoke "not cigarettes". Its in the same room as my reptile, but not near them.

Chams have fairly complex lungs a bit like birds. We know from experience that captive chams can get URI's fairly easily in confined spaces like cages. Humid air holds more particulates, the water vapor can condense on these particulates and give mold and bacterias a boost. Live plants help filter the air, but even houseplants suffer from smoke. I don't smoke but always use really good quality air cleaner for the cham room.
if you smoke, chances are your lungs look like charred dead chickens. if you're worried then dont. follow your instincts.
