Benefit Of A Normal Male Ball???

malesh02 Nov 03, 2005 07:49 PM

Are there any major benefit to having a normal male ball? If so, what are they? I understand plugging them into a co-dom or dom female can be a good thing but other than that are there benefits to keeping and raising them?

Thanks in advance.

yeah, a ball is a ball and they are some of the most amazing snakes in the world. I would always love to have another no matter what morph or not or what sex, just be happy you have one.

The only thing I can think of as a use for a normal male ball (not a unusual normal awaiting to be proven) is as a pet. You could use him to produce more normals, but why would anyone want to waste a normal female to do this unless they do not have any male morphs.

Just my 2 cents,

Dan

they tend to stay smaller, and usually go off feed during the winter to save you money on feeding.

I have a few I bought and some I rescued, they are all great snakes.

I even breed them to normal females sometimes, everyone needs a little love.

Trying to get my hands on a pair or so for awhile, like they said many people want baseballs for pets, I could spend thousands for a designer morph for my first bp, but why??? So yeah I like the fact that there are normals.

If you are trying to make an assload of money, than none. If you love snakes than...

Not really in it for the money. I was shopping around and found a pet shop that had 5 large males in it. All of which belonged to former owners who had no use for them anymore. Just seemed like a major bummer for the snakes, like they were cast aside because they weren't "valuable". I have a few normal males as pets and enjoy them, great patterns and super friendly. If there was one morph out there, male or female, to have in a collection, what do you guys think it would be? Just curious. What has the most potential for combos with other morphs?

Personnally, I think that Pieds, Clowns and Yellow Bellies are at the top of the list, but tommorow I may feel differently LOL. It's all personal taste. What are your faves?

Although albino's seem to be a morph of the past, I still really like the look of a good high contrast animal. Pieds are great, ghosts draw my attention and lemon pastels are beautiful. If I had unlimited funds, I would purchase a bumblebee in the blink of an eye. The contrast and patterns on those animals is beautiful. However coughing up $25-30k for one is out of reach so making my own seems like a good alternative. And now that I think about it, I would rather produce one of my own that simple purchase one.

I am with you there! In fact, it makes more sense in terms of experience gained and money spent to make your own. 1.0 Pastel 0.1 spider = $4,500.00 (aprox) even taking into account all the other costs of raising them you wont spend $20,000.00 and you will recoup some, if not all of your money selling the non bumble offspring. Plus, you get a Bumble! Buying a Bumble makes no sense to me.

I agree. BumbleBees are awesome but WAAYYYY overpriced for what it takes to create them. Either lower the price on the Bumbles themselves or raise the price of spiders and pastels. The former is more appropriate in my mind! But the way it is, it is kinda crazy to spend the coin on a Bee IMO!!

I totally agree. So what high end morph do you think makes sense to spend the $$$ if we all had it? I mean white snakes are over priced compared to what you can purchase to make them. What high end morph on the market today is worth the $$$ it commands? Perhaps a killer bee? There is a bit more time involved to create them. Super cinni? I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. All we're talking about here is living, visible art. Prices will fuctuate depending on the market. However there have to be some morphs that clealy live up to the $$$ associated with them. perhaps I'm wrong. Oh I forgot to mention, honey bees kick ass.

johnavilla Nov 04, 2005 02:10 PM

I think that pretty much all of the double recessives are worth their asking price because of the amount of time and energy it takes to produce them, and relatively rare recessives like Clown and Gen Stripe are because it will be a long time before the market is flooded with them. None of the high end Co Doms are worth it. I mean, I think that a solid white snake with blue eyes is about the coolest looking thing out there but $75,000.00?!? And $200,000.00 for a white snake with black eys?!? Personaly I wouldn't even pay the $20,000.00 for an Ivory; not when I can pay, what? $5,000 for a Yellow Belly and produce an Ivory in three years or so.
