Finally got my son's grey-banded juvie to eat... WHEW !!!

wpglaeser Nov 03, 2005 08:38 PM

Had tried everything (including braining and cupping), but this girl wouldn't eat.

Finally, today we tried holding her and waving the pinky (I washed and dipped small portion in tuna juice just in case) in her face. She struck a couple times, then seemed to want to avoid it. At last she struck, held on, then started to swallow. I was holding the pinky with some needlenose pliers and kept hold of both the pliers and the snake until I was sure she had like half of it down. Then I cupped her and she finished it ... HOORAY!!!! It had been over 3 weeks since she'd last eaten, and this was her first feeding with us. Now she's happily coiled on top of her Country Crock hide proudly displaying her bulge!

Thanks.

She ate exactly one week after this first feed, too. The waving it in her face worked again...
