Scars on belly of a rescue... Advice please.

I just got a new adult in my colony, and she is a beautiful large female that I probed when I got her. (It was supposedly a he.) Anyway, she had an incounter with a heat rock which burned her all the way down her stomach almost down to her vent. It looks pretty bad, but it has been like that for at least 7 years. It just looks like she had been cut up the stomach, and now she healed with kind of a zipper... Anyway, I'll post pics as soon as I can.

After all that, can anyone tell me if this would be in anyway effecting her breeding potential? It has been a long time since the mishap, and it has healed, but it just looks bad, and I don't want to put her through something that may hurt her in anyway. It did not reach the vent persay, so I don't think she would have a problem with recieving a sperm plug, but.... I have my concerns.

Anyone have any suggestions or advice? THANKS!

The problem most likely wouldn't be her becoming gravid, it would be whether or not she could pass the eggs. If the scar tissue goes too deep it could interfere with her passing the eggs. Also the scar tissue isn't going to be as elastic so if it runs almost to the cloaca, will that skin be able to stretch enough to let an egg pass. As far as how deep the scaring goes I don't know how exactly you could figure that out, other than maybe an ultrasound. Other than that I would say it would be a judgment call.

What are those racks you've got there? They look like those plastic file cabs. How roomy are they; price; heating type? I'm in the market and weighing options.

Actually, as I was posting this pic, I wondered if anyone would inquire about the tubs. They're sterilite stackable "drawer" units...pull out. They don't work that well, and were actually too small for my adult bps. I had several get head wounds by trying to escape (the top of the bins have ridges around the edges which were killer on the head of the bp's). I've gotten rid of them, so DO NOT USE THEM!!!

Thanks for the tip! I actually thought looking at them that they looked small; like the ones they have at Target. Sorry to hear about your snakes heads.
