feeding frequency for hatchlings

wisema2297 Nov 03, 2005 11:33 PM

I have read on this site that most feed hatchlings twice a week. I read in McEacherin's (spelling?) manual that you can feed hatchlings almost every other day if temp is optimal. I have been doing this for for over a month now with temp gradients ranging from 90 degrees in warmer end to high 70's in cooler end and I swear that the snake has almost doubled in length and gerth!! He (gender unknown) is a very active snake and will practically eat out of my hand. The snake is only approx. 3 months old and takes 2 pinkies on one feeding and 1 on the other. Has anyone else tried this. McEacherin is supposedly a very respected authority on corns. If you havn't read his manual I would recommend it. It is part of the advanced vivarium series sold in most pet stores.

Obviously as the snake gets older and growth slows I will not feed as often.
