Frogday decisions and questions

markj May 18, 2003 01:22 PM

Hello everyone,
First of all who else is going to frogday this saturday? Ok well I have a couple of questions. First off I have been trying to decide between terriblis and azureus and then a couple people on the dartfrog chat said I would be able to mix them. But the thing is I don't have anywhere to quarantine 2 different species right now. Which ones do you reccommend? Also how do you suggest getting the frogs home. I know they come in their little travel jars, should I just keep them in a big bag, basket or what? Thanks looking forward to seeing people there
Mark

I wouldn't mix them. Obviously mixing is a bad decision unless you build an extremely large rainforest and still watch them both. Terribilis also like it really wet and hot (78-82 degrees) and i'd rather keep azureus at 75. Terribilis are very bold and may make the azureus shy. I really see no point in mixing besides having a nice variety i guess...i prefer to have different species per tank

HERPTILE, n. A completely illegitimate term that has been used recently in amateur literature as a short-hand reference to reptiles and amphibians. It is also occasionally used in professional literature by authors who apparently lack a classical background. --James A. Peters / Dictionary of Herpetology

I'm going!! I moved heaven and earth to fly there. So I will get approval first from the airline to carry them on board. I will bring a carry on size cooler. I'll put some of that cricket gel water holding stuff in a zip lock and place it in the cooler to provide additional humidity. When telling the airline what i have, I will use the scientific name and not "poision" anything. For plants/dry stuff, I'll pack it in a suitcase and check it in. I'll see you there!!!

Go with the Terribilis you find them out more and they are one frog that you will never have any problems feeding..they also get HUGE!.
