My ball python is real moody and his belly is a pink/red color. I am thinking it may be from getting ready to shed but not sure, just wondering if anyone knows more.

Your baby is going into shed. Don't bother it and it will give you some nice skin soon!

Do you have a heat pad on the bottom of the cage? If you do and your ball has started to burrow it may have put its belly against the hot glass.
My ball has started to burrow so I had to put newspaper under the substrate so when he burrows he not touching the bottom of the cage that tends to get a little warm right above the heat pad.
What type of beedding is he on?
