How do you tell the difference between the borneo and sumatran short-tails? And how much do Sumatrans usually cost? np

Hey,
Well, once you've trained your eyes to identify the differences there is no need for scale counting or any other scientific approach and just a good look at pattern and color will be the key to identification. Below is an example of a Sumatran short-tail with a black head followed by a juvie black blood with a grey or chrome head. The latter is a pair of Borneo short-tails. Notice the coloration differences.

Sub-Adult Male black blood (Sumatran short-tail)

Juvie black blood (Sumatran short-tail)

Male Borneo short-tail

Female Borneo short-tail
