regurg every 4 meals - crypto?

mike17l Nov 04, 2005 09:09 PM

i dont know much about crypto, i know it causes regurges and the squirts, but that is all i know. i have an alterna that layed eggs about 4 months ago. she retained one egg that had to be "popped" out, it was soft and reaked. well i administered baytril for the next two weeks to help prevent any infection, incase some of the egg stayed in her. well she ate 5 times and then regurged the 5th one. then she ate 4 times and regurged on the 4th. then again regurged the 4th meal. the first two times she regurged the meals were slightly larger than the previous couple meals, this last time the regurged meal was the same size. the fecal matter has been slightly watery. any thoughts? crypto?

If concerned about crypto, your veterinarian can have an acid-fast staining of fresh fecal matter to diagnose this.

It is important to begin a diagnoses with all the symptoms and work from their. If you have something in mind before you begin, it may bias your search and lead you off track. For a specific diagnoses and treatment plan I recommend you take your snake to your herp veterinarian. Bloodwork, fecal analysis, Xrays, endoscopy, and ultrasound all would be helpfull in this case, but I"m sure the vet won't begin by suggesting all at once as only one or two diagnostic steps may be needed to solve this problem.
