Bad judgement on my part

basul Nov 04, 2005 10:39 PM

I bought a 1500 gram 50%het albino female over the internet.I had her probed and she was a female.I had her for two months in summertime temps.Well I just bought another 1000gram ball 2 days ago.First thing I did was had it probed. The guy probed it and said it was female.sweet I scored right? well I put the two togeter until I fixed her a setup.I got the setup all done and went to pull the new female out and I'll be damned If they arnt getting it on!They started at noon and they are still going at it.it's now 9:15 pm. is that normal? The worst part of it all Is I had a guy that was going to breed his 100% albino male to my 1500 gram female to prove her out,we were going to split the cluch 50/50.whoever picks wich half was going to get that half. Well thats shot to crap.so now My first clutch is going to be normals.Thats fine cause I love ball pythons whatever they are.I look at it like a good experance for me.It's just a bummer no chance for an albino!oh well mabey next year.

If the male was the second snake, it's still worth breeding the girl to the 100% het for the rest of the season.

The second 1000 gram was the male. Will the 1500 gram 50% female still breed to another male after she has already finished breeding with one male?

Yes, she will breed other males this season if introduced. I would go ahead and pair her up with the 100% het pied male for the remainder of the season getting a good number of copulations (I usually shoot for at least 8 per female with a particular male, if that male is mature enough with good weight). That one copulation with the normal male probably won't hurt you since it is still early in the breeding season and they only hooked up once.

You should be fine,
Tom
