pantocrater Nov 05, 2005 02:29 PM

I was wondering if anybody knows how to tell what sex this species is other than maximum size. I just aquired two of them and neither of them are full grown so I can't possibly use that method. thank You.

How large are the frogs? As these frogs are wild caught, it would be very difficult to ascertain sexes by size comparison, as you stated in your post. One could always take them to a veterinarian, as a blood sample can be sent to companies like Zoogen for DNA analysis, and a large frog like Megophrys would be a great candidate. This would probably cost around $40-50, but may be worth it, if you plan to breed the animals. From past experience, I would guess that the frogs are both males, as females are extremely rare in the hobby. Where did the frogs come from? Good luck!
