need some advice on light timers

reptileforest Nov 05, 2005 06:27 PM

Hello,

I am looking to buy a timer to turn on my herps lights and turn them off at night. Since i work i dont have a good balance on lighting system. So i need a timer to regulate it all for me. My only problem is: Where can I get a timer that will be able to regulate about 4 lights at once? I have 4 tanks, with 4 heat lamps and I need something to regulate all 4. Any web sites out there or specific timers that do that? let me know on that plz

There is a commercial timer/power strip that is made by ESU reptile products. Check with your local pet store to see if they have it or can order it. It has 3 or 4 timer controlled plugs & 3 or 4 non timer controlled plugs. If you can't find one locally drop me an e-mail & i'll see what I can do.

You might want to give this one a try;

I got one of these a few years ago, and it works great!

I have my daytime lights and heat set on one side, and my night time heat set on the other.

you could buy one of those single timers that cost about 4$. plug it into the wall, and then plug a power strip into the timer. now, all of the plugs on that power strip are on that timer, so, just plug your lights into the power strip. you just need to check how much power the timer can handle and i would use a strip with a surge protector too. this is just what i have been doing for years, since i have just recently been seeing the ESU ones. good luck .
