Aloha PHRatz, I have a slightly injured T.c.bauri that the vet has applied a non toxic super glue in the broken area. He has advised me to reapply a spray on bandage when it peals off. I was wondering what the vet put on Chip? it looks like a a bondo type glue? thanks for the info./p

ahhh your turtle is so pretty. The injury doesn't look too awfully bad. That's a good thing!
Does your vet treat birds? There's a dental cement vets can buy to treat cracked bird beaks, I've heard of using that on turtle shells too but I don't know how quickly it dries. Whatever this is my vet used is something she chose partly because it's made to dry quickly.
I'll make a note to myself & write the name of the product down on paper when I find out today.

Thanks, I agree. She makes my 3toed seem dull in comparison. The vet treated the wounds with ZYMOX OTIC, "contains 3 active enzymes that test to be antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral." Then he sealed the break with a superglue that is made for this purpose. He suggested that I keep it sealed with a spray on bandage when the superglue peals off. It already seems to be healing. /p

I saw her photos that you posted on the message board for identifying turtles. I've never seen a FL box in person, it's amazing how much they look like ornates on the carapace but the plastron has no markings. I found that to be very interesting.

It's amazing how fast they can heal. Shell E is the first one we took in who'd been used as a dog chew stick, she was hurt badly but not as badly as Chip. It took her 2 years to fully heal but I could see her healing long before that, within weeks after her shell repair I could see her healing.
She ate fine for me right off the bat & all she ever did was steadily improve. I wish Chip would eat for me & improve like she did.
Today Shell E is a spoiled rotten brat! lol

LOL that's ok. Chip has an appointment for a check up today, I'm going to try to remember to ask her what the name of that product is.
She called me on the phone when she'd finished his repair, she told me the name of the adhesive she had used then she told me details of how it went, what she'd done & by the time she was finished & hung up I realized I'd already forgotten the name of it. pfffft.
I'm the same way with people's names, I am really bad about forgetting people's names 10 seconds after they tell me their name.
I need to stop doing that lol!
