I can't keep live insects where I live. Would it be possible to keep an adult red eye tree frog alive using freeze dried insects if I used a vibrating feeding dish?
Does anyone have experience with this?
Thank you.

This might sound silly - but why can't you keep live crickets?
I live in a third floor flat, and I'm not allowed pets.
I just work on the basis of saying that the terrarium doesn't have anything but plants on it (Norman and Thor are always well hidden), and not keeping the crickets out for inspections.
I keep the crickets in a cricket keeper, which is about 12"x8"x10", and put them straight into a dish for the frogs.
The crickets can't escape from either environment ( the dish or the keeper ), and if you clean it out regularly it won't smell at all.
I don't know the answer to your question, though.

Answer...Maybe. It would take a little bit of research. most freeze dried (or canned) insects are pumped full of Vitamins and the like. so you would need to make sure that:
1) the insects dont have anyhting that your frog dosent need,or too much of what it does (I.E. too much calcium can cause liver problems, not enough can lead to MBD)
2)also you need to see if its missing anyithing completly, and suppliment accordingly
3) some frogs just refuse to eat dead prey even out of a vibrating dish. It would be good to talk to the breeder you get your frogs from about this, maybe see if they can get the frog feeding on dead prey before you get it.
4) (this depends on your reason for not having live insects) are you be able to feed an occasional live meal? if you cant have crickets, could you sneak them a wax worm now and then? honestly if you keep mealworms in the fridge, they dont look any different from freezedried ones....
