New Pic of a 2004 Keeper

RussBates Nov 06, 2005 07:03 PM

This girl was selected for her bright yellow leonis pattern and her amazing horseshoe pattern on her head. She is a real chow hound and as she ages and grows I can see the little black spotting starting to creep in on her lower sides. I see this more on the females then males. Anyone know why?

Thanks,
Russ

Not sure why you notice this more on females than males Russ. I will tell you that "dirty stuff" will become more prominent with age.

I don't have an answer at all for your question as to why the grey/black speckling occur more on females than males.
Bob Hansen and I have spoke many times about Ruthveni females that are nearly identifieable as females because of their grey sidewall speckling. It could be some sort of dimorphism........

BTW....Nice looking holdback Russ.

I have a nice yellow male w that speckling just as pictured that sired a clutch of babies. I kept the most yellow pair and both of them are getting it......

I believe it to simply be another pattern trait.

I'll post pics when I get a minute....

although the males tend to hold their color better. These 2 siblings both had excellent color as hatchlings but the male (bottom pic) developed a fair amount of speckling on his sides while the female (top pic)has stayed very clean with minimal speckling.

maybe it has something to do with you being closer to the "left"...err West coast than I am

I really like the thayeri shown in the first pic(female). Go ahead and send her to me since you are obviously busy hunting elk and riding hogs.

West is alright, but watch that "left" stuff LOL. Besides we have Arizona as a buffer to the left coast.

Do I detect a hint of jealousy there Russ. LOL I can't help it that NM is such a beautiful and wild place to live. It just makes you want to go jump on your "hog" and ride the mountain roads.

Sorry but "Butterscotch" is already an integrel part of my breeding program. thanks for the compliment though. Here she is as a baby.

well yes, wouldn't you pay $90,150 for a thayeri? If you will call me! IT was an error and should read 90-150 but most people figured that out from reading my other ads. I'm in Jacksonville.
