BCI and BCC?

ducky Nov 06, 2005 11:55 PM

Hey,

I'm new to the boa wold, being more familiar with ball pythons. I just got my first Red Tail, I don't have good book yet but have read several online care sheets. I'm just curious, what's the difference between BCI and BCC? I was told mine was a BCI, but I've read a couple caresheets calling BCI a Rainbow, I know this isn't a rainbow. Any help would be great.
Thanks!

Marty

BCI stands for Boa Constrictor Imperator a subspecies of the nominate form Boa Constrictor Constrictor. BCI are also known as "common Boas". BCC are typically known as "True Redtails" and are a neo tropical - tropical subspecies whereas BCI tend to usually be a somewhat more temperate climate Ssp. Rainbows fall into a completely different Genus "Epicrates".
