I am concidering getting a tangerin hondo. Need a care sheet. Also, how different is care than a corn or black rat? Thanks!

The care is not much different, but if you are looking for a good care sheet, go to www.kingsnake.com/shds (San Diego Herp Society) and look under the resources. You can also go to www.applegatereptiles.com . On that web page you can read Robert Applegates book on the care and breeding of Colubrid snakes. Hope this helps.

Hondos are great and very similar to Black Rats in cage requirements as long as you understand that you won't be able to get any joy out of holding the hondo until about 6 months or better. As babies they are just nuts. As adults they are usually calm except when it comes to feeding. I think they are well worth the time and a good tangerine from good stock can hold their color well into adulthood. All in all they are a great second or third snake once you know you love snakes.
