A few chameleon Questions???

jack7777766 Jul 22, 2003 10:11 AM

Im mostly interesteeed in Panther & Veiled in case these qestion vary among the species.

I was wondering Do chameleons gain more & more color as they grow??? Is their an age or so when their color is best, or does it improve till old age???

Are males more colorful than females???

Is the male more important in obtaining colorful offspring, meaning the males coloration will add more influence to the childs than the mother???

Thanks
Jack

Yes, both veilds and panthers gain significant amounts of coloration as they reach maturity. The males of both species are far more colorful than the females, so when choosing parents, the male's coloration will definetely contribute to the male offspring produced, and even if it doesn't contribute to the females, they aren't close to as colorfull as the males in both of these species.

and stop getting more colorfull from then on, or does it continue till old age, Im just curious as to when it peaks so to speak and begins fading if this ever happens.

Thanks Again
