Are those pics fairly recent? I've been out field herping a couple of times, and zilch as far as snakes (=rattlers, gophers or kings) go. What were the temps/weather like? Pacifics are native to my locale.

sorry, about a month old. But i have caught gophers out in the desert when the ground temp was 45!
cheers, donald

Wow! 45 degrees! Who'da thought. I've got a favorite field herpin' spot, much like a fave fishing hole, here in the San Fernando Valley, where my Gopher was found. At first we thought he was a Pacific, but looking at his markings (back pattern esp.) discovered he's a San Diegan. I'm gonna hit up our spot a couple o' times before the weather gets too cold up here. Thanx again.

Nice photos. I'm still trying to find my first Pituophis in the field. I live in Cleveland, but get out to Vegas and California once a year.
Tim
Do they have Pituophis species native to Ohio? Pines maybe? I guess snake hunting season's over til next year for you guys out there.

Dave,
Nope. New Jersey is probably the closest place that has pines. I hear that gopher snakes are relatively common in Vegas and California (I stay in the Santa Cruz area), but I'm still trying to fine my first one.
Tim
Its Zach, remember? Nice pics man! How is the Black king and taiwan? Nice pics there, shoot me an email I'd like to hear about finding those gophers!
