THE PIC OF ALL PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ankinc Nov 07, 2005 02:43 PM

Hey everybody,

Today I was feeding goliath hornworms to the chams, and taking pics. Blaze did the most fascinating thing!!! He actually held it in his hand while he ate the whole thing. He used his hands to push it into his mouth further, until it was all the way down. It was a HUGE worm!!! It was really miraculous to watch. I still can't get a pic with their toungue out, without it being very blurry. Does anyone else have this problem? Anyway, here is the pic. Let me know what you guys think.

That is defenetly a photo to have in the album. Startest chameleon I have seen. It would have been awesome if he had of been looking at you. A kind of 'Caught in the act' expression on his face.

And... Just to spite you.

Hey,

That pic is great!!! How did you get it at the perfect time? Did you take a video and them split it up into pics?

Yea, I tryed to make him look, but he wouldn't take his eyes off the goliath worm! Also, what do you mean by he is the started cham you have seen?

That was a typo, I meant "smartest".

First take a photo, without the tongue to notice how long the delay is from when it takes the photos (AS seen in the last/bottom photo). Then try it with the toung. As you can see, it took me two tries below (photo one and two).

I had a verrucosus (basically panther-sized) do something similar. At least you had a camera handy! My male grabbed this huge hornworm and while swallowing it, shoved it against the branch to help it go down his throat!

Another great hornworm story. I often gave my big female melleri hornworms while she was sunning herself in a south window next to my front door. I was expecting friends, so gave her a couple of worms before they arrived. The car drove up, everyone was coming in the door, and I pointed her out in the foliage. Instead of the usual "Wow, she's beautiful!" I saw them wrinkle up noses and back away. Now I know not everyone thinks herps are beautiful, but even so I was a little insulted. Then I looked at my pride and joy...she had a long string of dried hornworm innards hanging from her chin!
