First, I want to say another big thanks to all of the folks that generously donated their rattlesnake pictures; they looked great and everyone enjoyed the pics. I would also like to thank some of the gang who frequents this forum who made the trip to see the grand opening of the Grass Is Rattling exhibit at the Wildlife Discovery Center, Lake Forest, IL. With over 35 species/subspecies of rattlesnakes on display in addition to gaboons, rhinos, eyelash vipers, white lipped viper, jameson's mamba, puff adder, banded egyptian cobra, coral cobras, Cerastes, Vipera wagneri, Atheris nitschei, and a few others, we have quite an impressive venomous reptile exhibit....made possible by a grant we got from TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc. to start a new conservation education initiative for middle school students in addition to an exhibit that features rattlesnakes. We had over 800 people come for our grand opening (which is saying something considering the Chicago Bears game fell smack dab in the middle of of our event!). We will now be open to the public, FREE OF CHARGE (but always encourage a donation), and folks can see all of the mentioned animals in semi-naturalistic set ups...its amazing what you can do with a Vision cage! Our real nice, museum quality/cherry wood exhibits were made by Rick Senior/Crescent Moon Creations and man do they look sharp. Anyone wanting a stunning, conversation piece to truly show off their prized herps, this is the guy to talk to.
If anyone wants to post pics, let me know and I will shoot some off to you. Thanks,
