Frog Herping Help

DeZ Jul 22, 2003 10:31 AM

Hi I would like advice on how I can be successful on my frog herping trips to my surrounding areas. I'm staying in Asia where Malayan Horned frog can be found, and I'm currently doing a private research, documentation and breeding of endangered frog population. Hence I would like to know what are the successful ways of "trapping" or find frogs, be it treefrogs or toads. What are the equipment I need etc...

Normally I would "armed" myself with a few plastic containers and a few fish nets to "trap" whatever reptiles or amphibians I can find, as well as to fish out tadpoles from streams, ponds or puddles... I've successfully raised most of the tadpoles to adulthood, but I would really like to find adult treefrogs or toads... pls advice.

Hmm, well I guess a net helps. Depends on how well supplied you are and if this is a group effort. 2 or 3 people can locate a calling animal better then one if you all approach different directions.

Well I guess u're right, the net is really a useful tool for anything. But its gonna be an individual effort as where I come from not many people appreciates amphibians... they're more "into" reptiles, not like I dun like reptiles but I do I keep skinks (sun skinks which are common in my area) and geckos... thanks for the help anyway =)

Do u have any personal experience to feedback?
