Is it possible??

DanielP Nov 08, 2005 04:55 AM

Hey all, is it possible that my male is sexualy mature and my female isn´t yet?? They are both the same age. He is going through his first season right now, not eating much, mean as hell, while she is acting like she always did. And also she is eating like a pig, growing faster then he is. He used to be bigger than her before season, but since he got into it and stoped eating she became bigger. It´s kind of obvious but I was wondering if it is normal.
Yesterday I made a mistake and he grabbed her and tried to mate with her, but she wasn´t interested at all running around and "slaping" him with her front arms. I´m still blaming myself. Of course I separated them as soon as i saw that. It was kind of funny though... anyway, even if she was ready, I think they are still too young (2 years and 3 months old). Well, is it possible that he is mature and she isn´t??
Thanks for the info..
Take care,
Later,
Dan

Yes, it's possible, but it's also possible that she reacts differently to breeding season than he does. Before my female was spayed she had the same personality all year round with the exception of her eating habits as she became gravid. Even now she's still very even tempered. Count your blessings! *grin* JN

are you trying to breed them or just wondering? i have a male and female also, kept seperately, altho i do allow them both to be out together but only under supervision. my male will follow the female around all the time and bob at her. she really seems to care less and just follows me. i dont think females have a breeding drive like males do and male igs can actually hurt females in an atempt to breed with them. i really wouldnt suggest breeding igs.they are already so overpopulated and there arent enough caring homes for them. just look up any reptile rescue once, they usually dont even have the number of igs listed, they usually just say "a lot" or something similar.

No no, I´m not trying to breed them, I was just wondering.
I can´t let them roam together.. he is just way too "horny". The only time I did was yesterday and he tried to mate with her and she got scared to death. They are living in separated cages since they were 1 year old.
I´m checking her every day too see if I can notice any sign of egg producing but I don´t know, I just feel she isn´t mature yet. Oh well.. I´ll keep checking.
Thank you guys.
Later,
Dan
