All of your responses were respectable and reasonable.
FYI I'm 25 and was close to being "settled" in a house ect. but decided to begin vet school instead.
While looking at my future for the next 10 years I agree that it won't be stable enough to house a growing, nasty crocodilian in a large permenant enclosure.
As for longetivity, I already have some tortoises that will be my son's inheritance 
I'll keep browsing this forum however as my interest hasn't faded. Perhaps I'll run into a much smaller species that captivates me as much!
