Who is going to care for this tortoise while you're away at college? Chances are good that any tortoise you get now will out live you by several years!

I'm going to be attending a local college mainly due to my animals, i have 6 beardeds, 2 cresteds, a boa, three white's tree frogs, a pac man frog, 2 fish tanks for right now...So ill be caring for the tortoise while i'm going through school.

Don't take this the wrong way, but your two young, your life is going to change, your going to move out (probably an apartment) and your Tort will suffer. Go with something smaller a hermanns, a redfoot (not that small you should see some of my breeders) or a russian (not that pretty in my opionon, but a nice tort non the less).

How big are hatchling or very young red foots?

A hatchling redfoot is around a quarter in size. They grow pretty quick. And will get to 3 - 4 inches in a year to two. Send me an email and I'll take some pictures of my adults and email them to you tomorrow if you want so that you can truely appreiciate what you will be responsible for once he or she reaches full size.

i would go with a russian good torts. and good personalities. Or maybe even a hermanns. those tow are fairly small and are great. problem i see is do you have the room? i know you have other reptiles but turtle and tortoises need a lot of room even a small russian need quite a bit of room. i would go with a russian tortoise if i were you.
