Getting Him to Puff Up

monocledcobra Nov 08, 2005 01:58 PM

I know it may sound mean to "scare" him, but I am helping my brother with a school assignment, and he would like a picture of my dragon in his puffed up mode. However my dragon happens to the world's biggest baby. I've never seen him flare up or anything. He's head bobbed a few times. So my question is, "Is there any sure way to get him to flare up for a photo?"

thanks

I have a ton of photos of my dragons puffed up. If you want I can post them when I get home from work.

peace,
nathan

I was actually hoping to take the pictures myself for my brother, because this gives me an excuse to try my new camera.

have you tryed taking him out when he's asleep?
my girl learned how to open the sliding door on her tank and if i forget to tape it closed i often find her sleeping in a the corner, and she gets pretty upset when i wake her ,especialy if i have to pull her out from under something

just put him in water deeper than he can touch he will puff up to stay afloat you can take the pic like that or when you take him out of the water he will stay like

I suggest just taking a picture of him. Unless you already take alot of pictures of the dragon, and he is used to the flash or the camera. Having a strange looking object almost in his face may get him to flare up.

Thing is, if he really doesn't want to flare up, there really isn't any 'nice' way to get him to do so on his own. I would suggest using one of the pictures the other poster offered to loan you, and just take normal pictures of your dragon to try out the camera.

I ended up just taking his picture anyways, and you know what the little bugger did? Lol, he started to lick to camera. It made for some funny shots. I gave him a long drink after that. That is one thing that bugs me. I always offer him drinks from my spray bottle, and water bowl in his cage. He hardly ever takes/drinks...then one day he'll drink for like 10-15 minutes. Crazy little bugger. He's turning two on Sunday, and he's going to like his birthday present. My aunt's friend (who is a breeder)is coming over with his German Giant female Should make for some interesting colour with some size if everything works out. My guy is a brilliant goldish orange with cream markings on his back, and she is just a really big female GG.
