A few RETF Questions...

Son of Sam Nov 09, 2005 01:49 AM

Ive been reading around on the forums and still have a few questions. Can there be such a thing as to big of an enclosure for say, 5 RETF. The tank Im planning on using is 4ft wide x 18in deep x 4ft tall and I wanted to make sure this isnt to big before I start the project. My main concern is the frogs having a hard time feeding in such a large enclosure. Someone suggested placing the frogs in a smaller tank to feed and then putting them back into their main tank but this seemed to stressful to me...any thoughts? Also if I place my tank in my living room am worried about watching TV, listening to music etc. being stressful to the frogs during their night cycle since they are nocturnal. I read somewhere in the forums that someone had a tank in their living room and the frogs didnt seem to mind but I wanted to hear some opinions. Appologies for the long post.

While that is certainly big enough for 5 (actually more than that would be fine) it should be ok for the frogs as long as they are adults. Young froglets may get lost in something that size.. but that would be about 180 gallons of space.. and if you set it up nicely, should provide a great home for your group. As for your worries about putting them in the living room.. they will get used to the noise if it is a regular part of day to day life.. The only thing I think might stress them would be having lights on at night in the living room.. the noise doesn't seem to bother mine at all..
