Hate to be a bother but...

tanias16 Jul 22, 2003 11:53 AM

What if I had a 175 gal reptarium.
Could the jacksons live happily in that together or am i just beating a dead horse with a stick?
(thats a say isnt it? man it sure sounds weird when you type it out)

i say yes but others say no right now i have a pair of jacksons in a 65 gallon and they are doing great they both just go their own separate ways. and if the male tries to mate the female just turns dark and the male goes away. I think in that size you could even keep a trio in a 175 gallon.

May I ask then, how old your jacksons are, how long you've had them? Is this your first time with Jacksons? I'm trying to figure out what to do, I really appreciate all responses guys, you've been great!!

It may be possible... but it could shorten their lifespan.
I'd say your best bet is to divide the reptarium somehow. How large would that size be, dimensions wise? I haven't seen any reptariums before.
Also, may I ask why you really want to have them in the same cage? Do you just want the two together, or is it for cost? If it's for cost, I would go with building a cage. You could build a 4' wide by 2' deep by 4' high cage for not a lot of money. I'd say about $100 - $200 CDN, depending on if you stain and how fancy you want it, etc.

NOt a bother at all. If $$ is important I would still suggest separate cages side by side...because if things don't work out or the female becomes gravid you'll have to separate them regardless and you will be all ready. As for space, 2 cages may be easier to place than the one big one.

You could also devide the 175gallons with a peice of treated wood or something... you put it right in the middle.
