Those are links to gtp forums that have so much to offer to new people starting out with these great animals. Check out the breeder links at both of them for some of the best information available, bar none!!
The chondro disposition is brought up often and one of my own personal "issues" has been to dispel the myth that these are horrible, mean snakes. There are a few generalities that can be made about locale types. There is always an exception to the rule.... biaks=naughtiest reputation across the board for sure! But, they don't have a monopoly on tempest either!!
Generally, the younger they are the more snappy they are, BUT, in my experience with approximately 40 gtps, if you are respectful of their space, don't make any sudden moves, use removable perches it is quite possible to own several of these animals without ever being bit! I have many that I trust my young granddaughter with so believe they can be just as "tame" as a corn or ball depending on the circumstances. It's pretty easy to find very nice dispositioned yearlings. By the time they are that age you can usually tell if they will settle down.
As to the breeding/monetary issue? I've only got one clutch of gtp babies on the ground and my hope is like yours... not to make money, just to help me afford this obsession!!! I believe that the prices are going to become more affordable as more small time breeders start having more and more success. I think it is important as gtp breeders to breed for both locale types and designer. I'd really like to believe if you breed well and get the babies started nicely that there will always be a market for nice healthy, cbb chondros of all locale types.
