Mock Viper

boigamaniac Nov 09, 2005 09:46 AM

My latest prized collection! A RED dusky or common mock viper. The name 'common' is really a misnomer coz this snake is uncommon. And this full blood red psammodynastes is smtg i've never seen b4. IT's remarkable! The usual ones are either brown or darkish. This guy has a white stripe instead of brown too and less spots.

I see that although it's the same species, their patterns and colourations may vary in different Asian countries. There's some I've seen outside Asia that look brighter with more distinct spots. What they all share is the patterning on the head. Anyone have experience with these mocks here?

I had one a couple of years ago mine like you stated was a dark coloration.
it was a baby still but man did it have some fangs on it for its size he was a mean little sucker!

unfortunatley it died not long after i got it from what i know they like to eat lizards and live in cool humid forest habitats.
