Help me spend some money.

Hey all, I'm looking to get into breeding now. I know, about 10 years too late right? Anyway, I only have about 1000-1500 to spend but I want to get something that's going to pay off a little bit. I understand that I'm not going to get rich off this, just something I want to at least try. I was thinking of maybe getting two het albinos or pieds, something alone those lines but still unsure. If I'm going the het route, I want some kind of guarantee that they are 100% you know? Anyway, what do you guys think I should do?

I would go with a pair of het pieds.

I would get a 1.0 pastel and a buch of normal females. That would allow you to not have your eggs all in one basket as it were. You also have the ability to produce multiple cluthes with future ability to produce super pastels.

I second the pastel and normal plan

1.1 het pied or het albino=wait 3 years, breed your single pair and get possibly 1 or 2 pied or albino (or maybe not even that)

1.3-4 pastel and normals=wait 3 years and get anywhere from 1-5 pastels and 3 clutches total (with 3 or 4 or 5 females you are guaranteed to get at least ONE pastel)

This advice is not very glamorous but this is what I would do:

Buy 50 CBB female ball babies
Set up your room and rack system
Set up your rodent colony
Save more $

In two years, when your girls are almost ready, take the 5-10K you have saved and purchase 1-2 ready to breed males (one co-dom would be smart). Make babies, and use those to trade and sell to improve your collection.

Or is it great minds think allot; were covered either way. Getting everything set up will cost a whole lot more than you think; in time as well as money. Doing things right will be expensive and time consuming. I think it will be worth it in the end. I will let you know in a few years
