New Lizards in a New Tank

ZippoBSquared Jul 22, 2003 12:07 PM

My new collared lizards are always jumping around and smacking into the glass on my tank, how long will this last for before the finally except they can't get away?

Thanks

it's the whole "can't see the glass idea"They just see somewhere they aint been before and make a leap in that direction,or thats my take on it any way.Mines are in a 4x2x2 and they still try and leap through the invisible forcefield, they probably thimk it gets switched or something LOL.I do have a crafty male though who knows when it's open and he slimks away under a ledge and the first i know he's escaped is when i hear the speedy scratching on the floor, thank god for laminate flooring!

Or is this something they will always do? Will this sloyl decrease over time?

Could this mean they are wild caught?

I just don't like the sound of them smacking the glass, do you have any ideas I could use to stop them?

Thanks again....

They do seem to adjust in time. At least mine always have...some will never though. They probably hit the glass the hardest when they see something coming in the room...best bet is to cover the glass on all sides where they will not see movement. A possibility, so you can still observe them, is use some of the car glass tinting products. They will always run around and dig at the sides...normal behaviour. If you want to use the cheaper route, get some cardboard and cover the sides.

my female used to do that all the time, run clear across her tank into the wall at top (or as close as she could get to top) speed, shes almost totally stopped now (except when im putting crickets into her cage.. she thinks she can eat them through the glass
