Shortest cool down period?

bleibow Nov 10, 2005 08:29 AM

I live in Florida and due to the shorter winters, I was wondering if it is possible to successfully breed gilas with a reduced cool down period. What is the shortest cool down period that has still allowed you to successfully bred your Gilas? Thanks for any help.

I believe the duration is more important then the temps. If you can get them in the low 60's it will be ok. But then thats just a opinion. I am also in Florida and if it doesent work this winter I will go with something more custom to get the lower temps.

Living in Texas I wondered the same thing. I usually brumate my crotalus and colubrids 2.5 - 3 months depending on the weather. Average brumation temp is about 50 degrees. Will this be sufficent? I have 3.4 Reticulated Gilas ready to go this next season.

Chris, since you live here in Texas, what's your responce?
