Do monitors eat differently according to species

Recently a pic was posted of a large monitor eathing what I think was a rat or mouse and it had opened the thing up and was eating it. My sav who isn't but 14 in eats Everything whole like a snake. Do all montiors swallow prey whole??

My BRN eats evrything whole with mice he usualy snaps there ribs and or neck then swallows them down.

P.S. i got him to eat chicken and egg today *SCORE* havnt been able to do so but it seemed he realy dug it ( ahahahhah get it monitors like to dig bahahha oh man i crack myself up lol)

Monitors definitely do have different feeding strategies. Some eat at night, some during the day, some at all hours. black roughnecks tear their prey apart. when prey is too large they may eat it much like a big cat does, tearing chunks off as lacies are often seen doing with dead kangaroos or komodos with pigs.

this little one here will only eat from the butt side first (Goulds X Flavi)
