The name of the acrylic & still waiting...

PHRatz Nov 10, 2005 02:38 PM

Things didn't go as planned this morning so Chip didn't get his feeding tube while we were there, he had to stay & I'll have to go back to pick him up in a little while.
The rat surgery was more complicated than anticipated & other patients came in with more urgent problems so he's not done yet.
Anyway I did get the name of the acrylic that was used to repair his shell. I may not be spelling this correctly but the brand name is Teck-no-vet, Technovet, or Tecnovet maybe?
Again I don't know if I'm spelling this correctly but what it actually is, is called methylmethacrolate.
The vet really liked the results she got using it.
I also found out that the vet does have the Oxbow brand hospital food for him & when I pick him up that's what we'll be bringing home to put into his feeding tube.
The call should come in at any moment & I'll be going to get him.
I hate waiting!!!
LOL

Have you ever used carnivore care? Thats what I usually use for sick animals (carnivore care or heribivore care, which ever is appropriate for the animal).

I have now. as of yesterday. This is the Critical Care for herbivores that she sent him home with. She said she's had really good luck with this stuff with others, & that she does now have the carnivore care but for Mr. Chip she wants him on the herbivore formula.
I'll let you know how it works out.

I thought they also made an omnivore one, but not sure I've had good luck getting weight back on sick animals with the critical care.
