If no one minds shareing what do you actually use in your diets? Also, approximate amounts would be cool.
My Uro stools have been softer then the first few days today so I'm wondering if I'm not giving enough fiber.

my malis are pretty picky the only things they will eat are bok choy, supplemented peas and lentils. i give them the occasional flower and sometimes soy beans and sometimes i can get them to eat green beans. i try to sneak other things in but they just flick them out of the food bowl.
i am still trying to figure out what the two new ones will and will not eat, so far they really like the bok choy but i am going to see if i can get them to eat other greens too.
i don't know how much i feed them, it is kind of trial and error, i give them food, if it's all gone, then i up the amount, but usually there is always something left in the food bowl.

Do you have a food processor? We run all of our uros food thru one, chop everything up very fine. Now they cant pick out just their favorites anymore. Just a suggestion to anyone haveing the same problem.
3.4.0 Mali's
lol, nope no food processor on this end. my kitchen is pretty much used for brewing coffee and holding the coffee cups. however, i will look into one, it might work, but knowing helga, she will probably just stop eating if she tastes things she doesn't like. you wouldn't think a rescue would be this picky, but she was from day one!

You may be right, Helga might stop eating for a few days. May i suggest Running her current food mix thru the processor for a few days (maybe two weeks). Then start to add different food to the mix, this will/may help.
Uro diets are varied. You want them to have good nutritional value with a balanced calcium phosphorus ratio. Stay away from iceburg lettuce, romaine and leaf lettuce, they have almost no nutritional value, but have a high water content. I feed turnip, dandelion, mustard, bok choy, spring mix, napa, chopped mixed veggies, zucchini and yellow squash. You can also use spinach and kale, but very sparingly. Mine love flowers, their favorite being dandelions, hibiscus and rose petals. Their mix is sprinkled with repcal calcium, herptivite and Sandfire Ranch uro dust. I have a lot of uros, so make a large bowl and mix it well like a tossed salad. Amounts vary by animal and season of the year. Mine are slowing down now as I am in Wisconsin and it is cooler. They eat less over the winter and drop some weight, but when spring arrives, they turn into eating machines and quickly regain their weight and continue to grow. I leave a bowl of dry mix in their cages at all times. I use split green peas, split yellow peas, red lentils, bee pollen, and brown lentils. Hope this helps you out. Good luck.

Thanks both of you.
I have tortoises so I have been making a big salad and taking a little out and cutting it more finely. I just have to add the higher plant protien stuff for the Uros I guess.
I'm trying to be careful since the last lizard herbivore I had was a Green Iguana years ago, not sure if I gave it the right diet since it only lived 10 years.
So I take it they are allowed to eat their fill? Do I need to worry about obesity. I just assumed that since mine are hatchlings I can give them as much as they want.
in my experience i let my guys eat what they want and i have chubby lizards but the vet is always happy that they weigh more each time they go to the vet and has never mentioned obesity to me.
