Rough Belly scales

zookeepnhippie Nov 11, 2005 09:55 AM

Hey my female has developed some pretty rough belly scales almost like she tried slithering backwards and scraped them up. The male that is in the same enclosure has nothing like it though. Anything to worry about? She is due for a shed sometime soon, will it come off then?

Thanks

I would post some pics but you cant really see it but you can sure feel it.

I'm not a vet, and can only speak from experience.

I had a snake that almost got into the wall through the baseboard heat, water supply line. There was a hole that the installer must have drilled in the wrong spot which I have since sealed. Anyhow, she got halfway in before I noticed, and, rather than letting her get into the walls, I was forced to hold pressure on her until she tired out. This resulted in quite a few of her scales being bent bacwards and she had a really rough feel. This lasted for the next few sheds then returned to normal.

Good luck with your snake,

Alan

See nothing like that has ever happened to her, and they arent bent back the edges are rough themselves. I will see if it clears up after her next shed and if it doesnt then im just going to take her to the vet.
