New question...with pics inside........

ajfreptiles Nov 11, 2005 01:05 PM

Ok, I consider myself a newbie with ball pythons, and I am presently working with 5 females.

I have occasionally visited this forum, to try and gain some insight, so here are my questions....

This particular ball is mainly a chocolate type, but otherwise to me is just a normal....I say chocolate because of the lack of yellows as most normal balls have. I am wondering if anyone knows why this happens in some normals, or if I should get a certain male to see if this could be some type of trait.

Secondly, I have read many times about light spots on heads or some unique head patterns...this same female is shown below and has this light spot type head, and sometimes it seems more pronounced than other times. I hope my camera picks it up so comments are appreciated.

I have also seen the posts of people posting normals saying what type is this....I hope you understand allthough I am doing a similar thing, I am just trying to learn more about certain traits, and also if the possiblility is there in any of these balls, then what type of proven male should I buy to breed to these girls. I really do not want to buy pastels,....I am thinking higher end. Thanks Andy Federico

Ima newbie to ball pythons as well but i know a bit. i have no clue why tht happens but there are many dark ball pythons. Your girls head does look a bit odd but its probably not genetic just my 2 cents.
