Salt deposits around Uros noses?

ChicoB Jul 22, 2003 02:12 PM

Hi everyone!
I just got a pair of adult Mali uros from East Bay Vivarium in Berkley. When i first got them there noses where totaly clean Within a couple days after bringing them home both of them have what look like white salt deposits building up around their nostrils. Is this a symptom of dehydration or is it normal. Thanks!

It is normal no worries! Mine does it every week at least.

mine get them all the time, it's fine. just be careful about taking them off, if you do at all and you shouldn't, because if you don't get it off right some of it can get lodged back up in your noses. i hadn't thought about this until lindsay pike talked about it at the f.i.r.e. show, so good to know eh?

If you want to take them off you can wet a Q tip or a piece of towel etc. and since it is salt it will just dissolve!

from "glass dancing" my uro tends to take care of the deposits himself when he rubs his noise against his enclosure. Your uro should be ok on its own. No need to worry
