Not all snakes need UV light, as a matter of fact, only a few require it. Corns are not one who requires UV light. Although who knows if they can benefit from it, even if they don't "need" it? I think that as long as you provide a proper temperature gradient, it doesn't matter how you do it. So if a heat light works for you, go with it. Just remember that a snake needs a proper day/night light cycle, so don't use white light bulbs for a night light. You can, however, use nighttime light bulbs (blue or red bulbs) for the daytime heat.
>>Do Snakes require ultraviolet lighting? I know that with my beardie ribbon, he has his basking light then a light to simulate sunlight so he can digest vitamin d i think thats it anyway, it prevents bone growth abnormalties. Any Ideas? Also as long as I have a temperature gradiant, do I need a heating pad? or can I just use a low wattage basking bulb?
