how to train a chameleon to eat from your hand?

hi, i am new to reptiles so this might be a dumb question.

how would i go about training my veilded chameleon to eat from my hand?

i dont really think you can 'teach' it. most chams will feed out your hand just instinctivly. but there is the odd nervous specimen. i think once it knows you wont harm it, it may start handfeeding.

i would start by trying something like this.... put the chameleon in a separate feeding container ( just like a low rubbermaid container) and putting crickets or whatever your feeding it in there with the cham. while it is eating walk up to it. see if you can get closer and closer until the chameleon is no longer afraid that you're going to attack it or whatever it may be thinking. the chameleon is either scared or just distracted by you when you're around and with time it should come around to just accepting you. try not to stress it out too much because feeding it when the food is in the cage can be lived with. but if you stress it out it may not eat at all.

Most of my chams feeding is done from my hand. This way I know there wont be any crickets on the loose in the house!

I always make her work her tongue for her crickets though

On a seperate note has anyone noticed how long this forum takes to load now!
