buying an argentine red tegu.

Hazzardusa Jul 22, 2003 02:57 PM

i have been thinking about buying 2 argentine red tegu's and i was wondering if any of you could answer a few questions i have on them.
the main question i wanted to know is, what is the recommended size for a cage for 2 adult breeding tegu's.
i have one that is 6'X2'X2'6"
i cant let them roam around all day as of yet but in about a year i will be able to.
the other thing is, how much and how often do they eat?
my last question about them is, is there much of a difference in price/tamability/anything else between the different stocks? (are white headed tegu's any different from the others).
anything else you want to tell me about them will be well accepted as well.
thanks for you help.
mike.

by the way, i was also wondering if anyone has had a blue tegu and knows of a good place to buy them, other than bluetegu.com if possible.
sounded like he cultivated the blue color but i just wanted to make sure.

My baby red was tame from the minute I got him, and he eats every day (picky about food, occasionally misses a day). He eats a LOT. I've read that argentine red tegus tend to be most docile, and are the largest.
