So, other than snakes....what do you folks care for?

Sunshine Nov 12, 2005 08:09 PM

I would venture to guess that I am the keeper of the most kitties. I don't usually say how many that is......but I will send a free '05 BRB to the correct guess.

I have 2 mixed breed dogs. One is a Rottweiler x Rhodesian Ridgeback. The other is probably a Rott x bad dog.

If I don't include the cats/dogs I work for at the clinic that would leave only the other 2 small jobs I've had for 15+ years and could say I care for an a$$hole horse, guineas (sp?), more cats, more dogs, some koi, and Western Box Turtles.

As you can see, my life is surrounded by creatures. I wonder why I'm not married, hmmmm, too much baggage maybe?

Linda

I currently have cats, dogs, a miniature horse, mice (pets, not feeders), and several birds. This is a rather small brood for me. Before I moved to Nevada I had goats, chickens, ferrets, rats, more dogs, and more cats. I've also cared for big cats and wolves while volunteering at an animal sanctuary, if that counts.
Animals in general are my life.

I'm looking to get into Sugar Gliders soon, as the fad seems to be fading and many of these animals need rescuing and plenty of TLC.

Eventually I'd like to run an animal rescue/sanctuary, especially catering to commonly kept exotic pets that get abandoned after the novelty wears off. But as it is now, I don't have the room.

Great topic by the way. It's always neat to see the variety of creatures people care for.

Hmm, I'll guess 22 kitties.

Let's see I have 1 big dumb mutt, 1 completely daffy cat, 5 goldfish, and mice (number varies according to snake feeding/mouse breeding schedules).

I used to raise 100 chickens, 2 sheep, and a goat.

I suppose I should quailify my truthfullness with the correct answer.

10 house cat
2 outside cats
a small feral colony (almost all neutered or spayed and initially vaccinated and the remaining ones are trap-smart) I feed 6-8 on a regular basis.

20 cats total. 18 too many. I know lots of people cannot tolerate anything to do with cats.....but for some reason I adore them. I never again want to have so many....but I don't "get rid" of unwanted pets, they will have to die off from old age or a treated illness.

This is our Scottish Terrrier MacTavish. He had a good time going for a boat ride and playing on the islands in Lake Wylie on the SC-NC border this weekend. This block of cement/anchor was on one of the islands and as per usualy Mac had to smell it. Mac's favorite game is to stalk around the backyard listening for tunneling moles. When he hears one he goes crazy digging and often gets them. Except for the snakes and the feeder rats he is the only animal living with us now.

Nice little Scottie. Didn't you recently have a Rottwieler?
