Ball python Priceing

TerryHeuring Nov 12, 2005 09:03 PM

I wish people wouldnt panic and drop prices on the internet.Example, male pinstripe 10,000 or best offer.Pins have dropped from 22,000 to best cash offer under 10k in one season .This is just my opinion. If you want to sell snakes of any kind cheap do so but dont post the low prices for everyone to see. Those of us in the business know about what wholesale and cash price is on most mophs and there is alot of behind the scenes deals. Thanks Terry

Terry,

I know you must be a bit frustrated, but this topic has been beaten down into the ground and then some. As the forum had discussed before, those people who want to sell their snakes are entitled to it, but that doesn't mean others have to be happy about it. It's just how people work. I'm sorry you are concerned about it, but it is just the way it is....

Not really a concern,I sell all of my animals.I put the post up because just maybe a few will think before they post.co-doms are forced down because they are produced fast.I came close to buying a pin this year but will wait and watch the market. Thanks for the response.Terry

You make a very good point.
I think we are still on the same page.

How then would they sell their snakes? Kingsnake requires a price to be listed with an animal.

The method I use for selling high end animals is this. They are priced about center of the high and low reasonable prices. The offers come in, some are ridiculous some are not,I can accept an offer and it stays for the most part between buyer and seller. For example albino ball python babies $2000 ea,some were $2500 some were $1850.Now if I posted them for $1000 ea I would get offers of $700 to $900 and the price falls.also look to the future what if albinos are not produced in numbers to supply the demand, after posting them for $1000 can I go up to $2000 The next season? Keep in mind you reach all over the United States and the world with these adds.Terry

Unfortunately, there are many who won't even consider an ad if the price is not low. For example, het albino males are all over the place in terms of sellers and prices. $150 animals are hardly moving - unless you are in the likes of RDR - while $75 animals move very fast. Some people split the difference at around $100 and still get no replies. I usually keep mine until the next season, getting them growing and established. Unfortunately, I don't get any more money for them. They just sell easier than the year before. What do you do? It costs time and money to keep and feed these guys.

I do realize that non-visual hets are a bit different than visual morphs. But it's still hard sometimes to move animals.

Now, everyone would know and I'd be accused of crashing the het albino market LOL!

ok.....should they email everyone they think may want to buy it cheap?......

......

.........trust me....even if you tell people I got this and that REAL cheap.......in a month or three.....you will still end up with all the animals still being in your posession usually......

the market isn't what you think for cash deals and people are dumber than you think when buying from certain loud dealers rather than from cheaper small people......

anyways........

how many pins could one person have at this time for under $10G anyways........

and if that is so cheap....buy it....save the market...resell it for $20G........?

right?

........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

what do you think happens when a cheap azz snake hits the classifieds?

the big whiney "please don't drop the market breeders" buy it up and resell it for double price at times.....

so it pays to be quick or to have cash handy at all times?????

Here's my viewpoint:

I don't think it's necessarily bad to criticize other breeders for low market pricing. The criticism doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the hypocracy of the criticism. The same breeders who criticize the low market pricing are usually the same breeders who search the classifieds every fifteen minutes for that once-in-a-lifetime super low deal. If a breeder wants to critize low market pricing, that's fine. But that same breeder had better have the strength of conviction to offer FULL MARKET PRICE for EACH and EVERY animal they purchase. (Even if the seller advertises the animal at half market price.)

Just my opinion
Yes there is alot of deals behind the scenes.I know of deals on pins sold below 10,000.00.How many people out there have 20 30 10.000.00
to buy a snake the market is the market.Price and demand. You will see market go down Thats just the way it goes.If you think you will get your investment back on one sale you are foolinhg your selves.to many of the breeders are turning this hobby into a nasty backstabing buisness. To me to wake up look in my incubator and see those little heads sticking out and wow something you proved out or samething a little odd or all just healthy makes it all worthit. If I can sell my snakes or trade for what I think they are worth ,great if not I raise it to see what else it will produce, just my poinion
You have to admit it is fun,
Mike
