quick question for white lipp/d'albert's keepers...

Do you think I could keep mine on aspen bedding? Will this bedding hold enough humidity? or will it mush up?
Let me know what you think,
Ralph

Might help to have a mister at one end of the cage when you use an absorbable substrate.

I keep my White Lips in four foot slant front Neo's with newspaper as a substrate. I keep a 2x2 styrofoam hide with "jungle mix" in it and I wet it to the point where I can just squeeze water out of it. I use a small cat litter pan as a water bowl. It had taken me over a year and a number of "dry sheds" to find the right combo to keep them humid without the cage cleaning nightmare. Now I never have a problem with them retaining sheds or wet mulch all over the glass. Granted it is not a natural looking environment, but it works very well for me and them.

Thank you very much. that was very helpful. I keep mine now on mulch but it's not working too well. It's hard to keep a balance to the humidity. Where did you get yours? which phase is it? Thanks again,

Rafael

I actually acquired mine as walk-in's to a pet store i used to work at. I have 1.1 Black White lip's ready to breed this season. I used to keep the goldens but when I started with the black's I decided the golden's were expendable. Also, it isn't a phaze as I hear so many people call it, It's locale. The black White lip pythons come from farther north and higher altitudes. To me, A "phaze" suggests that you can produce blacks with goldens and goldens with blacks. This is not true. If Dave and Tracy Barker can differentiate the Golden and Brown White Lip Pythons by color, scale count, and size then The Black White Lip Python deserves the same respect.
