Howdy all! I have a question (well, several to be honest) about walk-in/room incubator designs. I've seen a couple of people on the net who are converting small rooms or closets into incubators, and I was wondering if those who have tried this method for ball pythons could let me know what their results were. Also, I have some questions for those who have been successful with this method. Here goes:
1) How many square feet is is the room (approximately)?
2) What modifications (if any) did you have to make to the room to make it suitable for incubation? (ex: insulating the walls, shutting off air vents, sealing openings in the door to the room, ritual chants to the ball python gods, etc...)
3) Is there any "best" place to put the heater and the fan, or does it matter? Specifically, I am wondering if there is any chance the fan could dry out the eggs - if the fan should be intentionally aimed up, down, or in any other way away from the egg boxes.
4) At what speed do you run the fan?
5) Do you adjust the heat of adjoining rooms to prevent massive inflow of cooler air when the door is opened?
6) How often have you found you can safely open the door to check the eggs without causing too much temperature fluctuation?
7) Have you found that one type of egg box works better than others using this incubator design?
Thanks everyone!
