GTP colour shift

josieradley Nov 13, 2005 05:44 AM

I have just bought my first GTP. He's beautiful, feeding well etc etc. He's only 7 months old, but has little green spots on him (he's predominantly yellow). Could this be his colour change starting, or is he too young? I've been told thet he's a 'Biak type', but I know that this type of locality info. can be unreliable.I'd just like to know if these markings are normal, or if they could be indicative of some problem (e.g skin infection due to too much humidity). I'm probably worrying about nothing-I've got other snakes, but i've never had one of these guys before. (Obviously the GTP hasn't been sexed, I'm just using 'he' for now!)

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Sounds like he's chnanging color. Lucky you! I had to wait until mine was over a year old before she changed. They change when they want, not when someone says they will Have fun watching the transformation. It's the best part of owning one of these!

Sounds perfectly normal for a biak type!! It's one locale that isn't very often misrepresented imhe. One of the cool things about biaks is they can take a very long time to change and you'll get to enjoy it for awhile!! I've got a 4 year old girl and she's still changing, but it is a lot slower now!!
